Pets travelling in the hold as accompanied baggage or as cargo will need to travel in an IATA approved travel crate.
Here is our handy IATA pet crate calculator to work out what size travel crate you need.
For pets travelling in the cabin with you, a soft bag is recommended, you can find these on our store.
If you are buying a crate from a pet shop or online please note that all openings of the kennel must be nose and paw proof to avoid injury to your pet.
For dogs the openings must be a maximum of 25mm x 25mm and for cats the openings must be a maximum of 19mm x 19mm. Any welded mesh used for openings must be 2.5mm (or thicker) for dogs and 2mm (or thicker) for cats. The total ventilated area must be at least 16% of the total surface area of the four sides.
If your dog or cat is a strong breed or is likely to try to get out of the crate then you will want to consider a custom reinforced crate for their own safety.
Please note that airlines have to adhere to IATA rules as a minimum however can set their own additional policies around crate size so always check with the airline or your pet travel consultant for the latest rules.
